New “Ready for Work Clubs” are now being put in place to start in May. They will be two clubs a month, one in Huntingdon and one in St Neots and will be run on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10am – 12pm. For the complete programme click here.
These clubs have been sponsored, organised and run by a partnership of local employers, agencies and training providers to assist anyone looking to get back into employment, looking for a career change or considering setting up their own businesses. The work clubs offer the opportunity to gain useful hints, tips and guidance with regard to:
- Effective Job Searching- including where and how to look for jobs suitable for you
- Effective completion of application forms, covering letters and cv writing
- How to prepare for interviews; techniques, tips and how to answer questions
- How to assess your suitability for self- employment
Additionally, there will be the opportunity to listen to local employers about their businesses and current vacancies. You will also have the opportunity to meet and network with recent successful job seekers and movers as well as local employment agencies, training providers, volunteer organisations to discuss your specific needs.
Our aim is to help those seeking jobs, career changes or considering self-employment increase their self-esteem, interview and employability skills, whilst gaining access to different networking opportunities.
Being in the company of others in a similar situation is always very helpful, providing support, a chance to network and share ideas. It’s always wonderful news when we hear that one of our former Work Clubs clients has found themselves a job and since the work clubs have been running there have been a few.
